Is it possible to make charity profitable for yourself?

There are two controversial opinions about helping other people: charity is a must and charity isn’t necessary. But could charity be profitable or it is just a kind of duty?

Now you can tell me: “Charity is charity, we do not expect profit from our actions of a kind”. I tended to believe it before I realized a lot of people expect at least gratitude that helps to fill better. I’m not an exception. To put it more precisely I wasn’t an exception. Now I changed my mind but I’ll tell about it later.

I know sometimes people help because they fill for somebody, especially it works with personal stories, that it is why sites like “GoFundMe” can raise billions. Definitely, we fill better when helping somebody. The same works when we make presents. We really like to fill gratitude, some people like to tell stories how they help other people, although as you know “the Hell is paved with good intentions”. Many times at my life I helped people, at least I thought I helped and the result was poor, no gratitude, I just got anger and irritation back. So the most import thing I understood: if you decided to help don’t expect gratitude. Do it only if you want it, just enjoy the process.

Well, well, well, so what’s about profit I told before?

I was told many years ago by a very wise and rich guy: “I help people around me to get rich because it is profitable for me.” I was surprised: “How it could be profitable for you if other people get rich?

The answer was: “What do you think is better for a tree to grow in the forest or to grow in a field?”

I realised, that definitely, a forest is better at least because during heavy showers there is no chance for lightning bolt and if a man decides to cut down a tree it is easy to chop the only tree in a field then to find the same tree in a forest.

It seems that I changed the subject, I’ve just told a story about getting rich but about charity. No, not at all, charity works the same way: you help people, they get a better life, in their turn, they have a chance to change for the better life of others people. It means that all get a better place to live in.

Does it mean that all charity is profitable for both sides? No, it doesn't. There is a kind of toxic charity exists. For instance, daily on a street, you give a beggar some money, he buys drugs for it and asks for money tomorrow. One day he can kill somebody to get money, and that very somebody could be your friend. So you make your own word worse by your own charity.

I want to tell, help people only you understand that it changes their life for the better. “Win-win” situation is good for charity as for business.

Charity is always profitable for you until you wish to make people independent, and it becomes harmful and toxic as soon as you make by your act of a kind people depend on you.
